LANDSCAPES, GARDENS AND BUILDINGS
STAGE 1 - USING YOUR CAMERA ON LOCATION WITH CONFIDENCE
The first of two days aimed at those who have are happy using their camera in its automated mode on days out, city breaks and holidays but want to improve their creative and technical skills through a hands-on, back-to basics teaching approach.
For a location that encompasses all of the elements found on a typical excursion- namely gardens, lakes and water features plus beautiful historic and modern buildings, the campus at the University of Nottingham provides all of these in a compact area.
The day includes:
- Informed & enjoyable walking tours of the 500 acre campus taking in a variety of lakeside buildings & landscape gardens from over the last 200 years.
- Top tips on controlling your camera whilst shooting on location - creative use of aperture and shutter speeds - skills easily transferred to your holiday destination.
- How to capture the real beauty of parkland landscape and buildings whilst working in different lighting conditions and variable weather.
- How, why and when to use different focal length lenses and learn to spot interesting details.
We have based these lively courses at Lakeside Arts Centre at The University of Nottingham. The campus is a photographer's dream, and Martine takes you on a tour of hidden gems including a walled garden from 1797 stocked with exotic plants, inside listed halls of residence and to the latest award winning modern buildings by internationally acclaimed architects. Many of the views are seen in Martine’s 2007 book for the university- CAMPUS VIEWS and now, Line+Light has been given permission to photograph this stunning location- the perfect recipe for anyone wishing to extend their photographic skills.
